Pacific Herring Spawn on Vancouver Island, BC
Last week I had the opportunity to witness the annual herring spawn on Vancouver Island. It only lasts a week, so I was grateful to have the experience. My favorite part was the foot high layer of white foam at the base of the sea. It was explained to me that this was the remnants of the sperm from the males. It was an exquisite visual and tactile experience! Unfortunately I don't have any photos; I was in the moment. :) However, I did take some photos of the beautiful scenery, which was what drew me here, and you can briefly see the fishing boats in the distance.
